VistaCare Communications is a leading technology solutions provider for a wide range of businesses and organizations. Due to growth, we are currently seeking an experienced and motivated Delivery Driver to join our operations based out of our head office in Bedford, NS for a permanent, full-time position.  This position will be primarily be responsible to load and deliver company materials, equipment and supplies to our field personnel at various construction sites throughout Nova Scotia and/or return them to warehouse.

Duties and Responsibilities: 
  • Safe Operation of a 26-foot delivery truck, shuttling equipment and supplies daily between our warehouse / yard to our Line Technician and Splicer field crews throughout Nova Scotia;
  • Collaborating and organizing daily job package pick ups and deliveries as requested by divisional operations and project teams, with a continuous effort to optimize efficiencies wherever possible;
  • Inspect equipment for damage and ensure the order is fulfilled or if not fulfilled, ensure awareness of the reason and communicate to field personnel;
  • Load the truck in an organized and efficient manner, accounting for the planned delivery route;
  • Organize and move product within the warehouse, as required;
  • Collaborate with warehouse staff to ensure a tidy, organized and effective warehouse operation;
  • Oversee issuance and return of tools and equipment from the warehouse;
  • Practice safe load securement and be responsible for the protection of the equipment while on-site;
  • Daily Log Book recording;
  • Daily Pre-Trip Vehicle Inspection / reporting to Fleet Manager any unexpected vehicle maintenance requirements;
  • Assist with resolving materials shortages when required, leveraging knowledge of where equipment could be sourced from other field locations;
  • Coordinate regular schedule vehicle maintenance with Fleet Manager / Field Personnel to ensure planning does not conflict with urgent deliveries;
  • Maintain tracking of materials moved in conjunction with warehouse established inventory procedures;
  • Sign for deliveries as needed;
  • Assist warehouse personnel with receiving and shipping tasks as directed;
  • General maintenance, ensuring yard and warehouse are tidy and materials and supplies are secured, whether they are inside or outside;
  • Ensure vehicle is well maintained and kept clean.
Knowledge and Skills: 
  • Must have a strong attention to detail;
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 75lbs;
  • Self-starter, motivated and highly organized;
  • Ability to handle multiple requests or tasks at the same time;
  • Excellent math skills, ability to assess quotes and determine materials requirements;
  • Innovative problem solver;
  • Self-disciplined requiring little to no supervision;
  • Skilled in organization, planning and time management; must be able to work independently as well as part of a team;
  • Excellent communication skills; ability to interact professionally with vendors, customers and staff;
  • Knowledge of computer systems and related software (Word, Excel, Outlook);
  • Experience with JONAS Construction software will be considered an asset.
Experience Required: 
  • At least 1 year of Commercial Vehicle Loading and Delivery experience, either local or provincial;
  • Pre-Trip Inspection Experience;
  • Fork lift Operator certification is an asset but not required;
  • Preference will be given to candidates with warehousing experience in the telecommunications industry.
Additional Requirements: 
  • Valid Class 5 driver’s license and clean driver’s abstract; Class 3 license would be an asset;
  • The successful candidate will be required to pass a criminal record check.
