Fibre / Copper Splicer (Moncton NB)

VistaCare Communications is a leading technology solutions provider currently seeking experienced and motivated Fibre/Copper Splicers to join our national operations, with current openings in Moncton, NB. Fibre/Copper Splicers are involved in all facets of splicing including cable preparation, termination, fusion-splicing, testing and troubleshooting.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Splice various types and sizes of copper cable
- Splicing, testing, and troubleshooting of fibre sites and links
- Analyzes and troubleshoots basic technical problems or issues
- Inspecting fiber routes and hub sites as preventative maintenance
- Reviews, interprets and works with various maps, drawings and blueprints and testing documents
- Make splicing rearrangements on existing facilities in buried, underground, aerial and building work locations
- Ensuring all attended sites are clearly labelled
- Locating faults and mobilizing resources within minimal time to counter fault
- Reviewing engineered plans and blueprints
- Load coils, repeaters, pressurization, cable throws and troubleshooting
- Provides quality construction service surrounding the Company values
- Documents the work process by submitting daily reports of completed work and required safety paperwork
- Maintains continuing construction and layout guides to ensure work quality control
- Ensures the timely completion of work and the adherence to quality guidelines
- Performs other duties as assigned
Knowledge and Skills:
- Strong manual dexterity and hand-eye coordination
- The ability to work in all weather conditions, confined spaces, isolation, and at heights
- The ability to work in a physically demanding atmosphere that includes, but is not limited to: carrying, raising and climb a ladder; carrying, lifting and handling heavy equipment (manhole covers, cable reels)
- Self-disciplined, motivated and organized individual
Experience Required:
- Familiarity with the tools, equipment and techniques of the trade2+ years Fibre Optic splicing experience
- Technical training considered an asset
- Previous telecommunications experience and testing for improved experience
- Experience using FO troubleshooting tools (i.e. OTDR, Mass Fusion Splicing, etc.)
- Experience with electrical or working around power
- Preference given to those with additional experience or FTTX / FTTH project experience
Additional Requirements:
- Valid driver’s license (preference given to Class 3 and above), reasonable driver abstract
- Ability to pass provincial and federal security clearances
- Travel throughout NB & PEI is a requirement
- Willingness to work overtime, weekends, on emergency call outs, and travel as required
