Flagger/Traffic Control Person (Moncton)

VistaCare Communications is a leading telecommunications and technology solutions provider for a wide range of businesses and organizations. We are currently seeking Flagger/ Traffic Control Person to join our operations in the Moncton Area for full-time positions, working alongside our Telecommunications Line and Splicing crews.

Duties and Responsibilities: 
  • Use flagging, signalling devices and signage to direct traffic through roadside construction sites in urban and rural areas;
  • Load/unload materials and equipment from cable trailers; move material in work areas;
  • Communicate with other flagger/Traffic Control Person in workplace to regulate traffic safely;
  • Signal detour information to drivers as necessary;
  • Warn workers and pedestrians of hazards or traffic concerns;
  • Report unsafe acts regarding traffic movement to supervisor;
  • Ensure that PPE and other safety equipment is used on the work site;
  • Adhere to all company safety policies and procedures;
  • Other tasks as required.
Knowledge and Skills: 
  • Able to stand for long stretches of time;
  • Able to work outside in all weather conditions;
  • Able to verbally communicate clearly and effectively;
  • Strong manual dexterity, hand-eye coordination, and attention to detail;
  • Must be comfortable in roadways and construction zones;
  • Fully understands flagging and traffic control requirements and procedures;
  • Capable of controlling flagging, signalling devices and signage effectively;
  • Fully understands and recognizes traffic related hazards and all other hazards on the worksite, and knows how to effectively eliminate or control those hazards.
Experience Required: 
  • Completion of certified / approved Traffic Control Technician or Traffic Control Supervisor training required;
  • Experience in construction environment is an asset;
  • Experience in telecommunications environment considered an asset;
  • Minimum of 1 year of applicable experience.
Additional Requirements: 
  • Ability to frequently lift 50 lbs;
  • Valid driver’s license and reasonable driver abstract;
  • Willingness to work overtime, weekends, or on emergency call outs as required;
  • The successful candidate will be required to pass a criminal record check.
