VistaCare Communications is a leading telecommunications infrastructure solutions provider for a wide range of businesses and organizations. We currently have a position available at our head office in Bedford, Nova Scotia  for an IT Systems Administrator  to join our Corporate operations team. This role will oversee and maintain the overall Information Technology function for the Company, supporting the technical needs of office, remote and field personnel in our operating locations across Canada and the United States.

Duties and Responsibilities: 
  • Design, structure and maintain the company’s overall Information Technology strategy;
  • Provide daily technical support services to internal customers in the field, office, and remote locations in Canada and the US;
  • Set up and track all company-issued cell phones, laptops and other business communications equipment and software for employees; or alternatively terminate these items for any departing employees as needed.
  • Set up and accurately track the Company’s active directory;
  • Troubleshoot in-house Boardroom Network and Equipment issues as required;
  • Maintain the Company Website and  Intranet Portal, and manage the External domains and DNS;
  • Manage and improve the IT Infrastructure within LAN, WAN and W-LAN environments;  Virtual Servers, Email Platforms, and Network Security.
  • Provide consultation to executive staff as required and proactively initiate recommendations for IT and Communications solutions;
  • Vendor liaison for IT related solutions, negotiating pricing and contracts with various vendors, and managing any related software-integrity issues;
  • Facilities management - Act as the Company liaison with building management personnel and security company employees;
  • Budget awareness, ensuring the IT department is operating efficiently, company equipment is set up optimally and stored securely, and costs are contained;
  • Oversee cyber-security issues and integrity;
  • Manage all IT Department related projects that may be assigned;
  • Provide IT Department-related reporting to Executive, as required;
  • Participate as a Member of the Business Continuity Planning Committee;
  • Participate in management huddles, and work collaboratively with HR, Payroll, Warehousing, and other Company departments as needed.
Knowledge and Skills: 
  • Ability to stay aware of IT business trends and recommend solutions;
  • Advanced Trouble-shooting skills, recognizes patterns and uses analytical skills to form logical conclusions;
  • Uses sound judgment in making decisions despite obstacles or resistance and recognizes when to seek guidance;
  • Ability to work independently with strong organization, and time management skills;
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills;
  • Service attitude, coupled with a sense of urgency to provide efficient support for employees, while maintaining a friendly and collaborative approach.
Experience Required: 
  • 2-3  years of experience in a similar IT service-based role;
  • Expert knowledge of:
    • Windows Server 2008/2016 & Windows 7/10 Pro
    • Active Directory/LDAP – Configuration and Administration
    • Group Policy – Design and Configuration
    • Office 365 – Configuration and Administration;
  • Advanced knowledge and understanding of LAN/WAN networking and in multi office environment including network security protocols.
Additional Requirements: 
  • Willingness to work overtime, weekends, or on emergency call outs as required
  • The successful candidate will be required to pass a criminal record check
