VistaCare Communications is a leading technology solutions provider for a wide range of businesses and organizations. We are currently seeking experienced and motivated Lead Structured Wiring Technicians to join our operations New Brunswick for permanent, full-time positions. Structured Wiring Technicians are involved in all facets of maintaining a cable system such as installing, repairing, testing and upgrading both copper and fibre cabling infrastructure.

These positions may require travel on a rotational basis and candidates are welcome to apply from any province. The work may be local or require travel depending on the location of the applicant.

Duties and Responsibilities: 
  • Lead project installations; manage project team members, project schedule, customer expectations and be accountable for the end product
  • Ensure installation according to provincial building and electrical codes. If permitting is required the Lead Technician will pull such permit on behalf of VistaCare Communications
  • Maintain cable systems by installing, repairing and upgrading cable infrastructure
  • Run new cabling in new or existing buildings
  • Responsible for the termination and testing of new cabling
  • Perform major and minor preventive maintenance and repairs by troubleshooting cabling system issues
  • Interpretation of drawings including architectural, elevation, and schematic drawings
  • Installation and proper cable management practices of new communication racks and cabinets
  • Understand, adhere to, and promote environmental, health & safety practices
  • Assist co-workers with installation and routine maintenance of structured cabling systems
Knowledge and Skills: 
  • Job planning according to desired timelines, including the dissection of blueprints from designers
  • Outgoing and friendly personality with the ability to liaise with customers, conduct site surveys and do basic quoting for time and materials jobs
  • Professionalism and integrity when dealing directly with clients, general contractors and trades
  • Basic to advanced computing skills in MS Office considered an asset for project communication, tracking and reporting
  • Highly organized and self-motivated, requiring very little supervision
  • Ability to manage workload and to ensure jobs are completed on time
  • Strong manual dexterity and hand-eye coordination
  • Self-disciplined, motivated and organized
  • Knowledge of IP networks and the ability to configure IP based system solutions
  • Strong ability and experience in coordinating and motivating team members while verifying completed tasks to provide on-the-job training and mentorship
Experience Required: 
  • 3-5 Years experience in communication and low-voltage cabling
  • Preference will be given to those with fibre optic splicing experience
  • Supervisory or team lead experience is considered an asset
  • CCS or similar designation considered an asset
  • Ability to test, analyze, troubleshoot and resolve complex issues
  • Ability to manage workload and to ensure that jobs are completed on time and on budget
Additional Requirements: 
  • Valid driver’s license and clean driver’s abstract
  • Willingness to work overtime, weekends, or on emergency call outs as required
  • Willingness to travel would be beneficial as travel options may arise for future projects
  • The successful candidate will be required to pass a criminal record check
